Leong San See is a Guan Yin temple. For over a century, generation after generation of devotees have come here to pray before Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Mothers brought their children by the hand, asking for the family's safety, health and a smooth road ahead. A lifetime of prayers, so rarely for themselves.
Guan Yin's name means the one who perceives the sounds of the world. The Universal Gate Chapter teaches that when beings in distress call her name with a single mind, she hears their cries. Even the worries we never say aloud, the prayers held quietly in the heart, are heard.
The 19th day of the 9th lunar month marks Guan Yin's renunciation. On this day the temple will chant the sutras and dedicate the merit to every name registered. You are welcome to offer a lotus candle for your family, lit before Guan Yin, praying for protection, long life, peace and blessings.

Guan Yin's Renunciation Day
Registration open · 28 Oct 2026
Guan Yin is commemorated three times each year: her Birthday, her Enlightenment and her Renunciation. The temple holds a ceremony on each day, with registration opening ahead of every session.
The ninth-month day remembers Guan Yin leaving worldly life behind and vowing to relieve the suffering of all beings.
The lotus candle
- A crystal lotus candle, lit before Guan Yin on the festival day
- A red name label on the candle's base, printed with the name you register
- The name included in the ceremony list and chanted by the sangha
- A blessing for the living
The lotus, pure and unstained, is Guan Yin's own symbol; a lamp stands for light dispelling darkness. In offering a lotus candle, we pray that wherever its light reaches, misfortune clears and blessings grow.
Sizes and registration
The Grand carries up to four names, or one name + 合家 for the whole family, e.g. 陈小明合家. For more names, add another candle.

Online registration closes Sunday 25 October, 11:59pm. For departed loved ones, please see our Bardo Deliverance and Ancestral Tablet services.
